Feminism, community and university: Listen to Disonancias Podcast, a new space for the scientific knowledge dissemination

In ten chapters available every two weeks on Spotify, Journalist and Researcher Emiliana Pariente talks with national and international guests about protocols, call-outs, punitivism, violence, victimization and non-sexist education, among others topics related to the link between the university community and feminism.

"As a team we are very committed to the objective that the ideas that are emerging from this research project do not remain only in the academic context. To do so, besides writing articles, we are constantly working with schools and communities through our Knowledge Transfer area, we have created different digital communication products for our social networks and website, and now we are launching Disonancias Podcast, which is another contribution to the democratization of knowledge", says Andrea Vera – Ph.D. in mathematics, academic at the Universidad de Valparaíso and director of the Disonancias Project.

The director is precisely the first interviewee of Disonancias Podcast in the first chapter already published on Spotify. In this conversation, she delves into the origins of the Anillo Disonancias Project, its research nodes, and the particularities of critically investigating feminism, being herself a member of this movement. She also details her experience as an academic and researcher in gender in the area of science and technology.

Disonancias Podcast is an initiative of the Anillo Disonancias Project that brings together the Universidad de Valparaíso, Universidad Academia de Humanismo Cristiano and Universidad de Chile. It is produced and conducted by Emiliana Pariente, a journalist specialized in gender subjects and socio-cultural processes and a scholarship holder of the International Women’s Media Foundation. In addition, Oriana Miranda – journalist, feminist activist, master in anthropology and communications manager of the Anillo Disonancias Project – is in charge of mounting, editing and disseminate this initiative.

About the Anillo Disonancias Project

Anillo ATE220009 Disonancias: Community, University and Feminist Irruption study the irruption of the feminist demands in higher education institutions in Chile, with emphasis on the challenges faced by the implementation of gender initiatives and policies, equality, and recognition of diversity.

The research team is composed of a transdisciplinary group of seven researchers working in different fields of study: Dr. Andrea Vera – director of the project –, Dr. Claudia Montero – alternate director –, researchers Dr. Sandra Vera, Dr. Tamara Vidaurrázaga, Dr. María Antonieta Vera and Dr. Lelya Troncoso, and Dr. Panchiba Barrientos – postdoctoral researcher.
